Ankit Shah Residence

Client Brief

On the plot of 24,600 Sq. ft in a prime residential area, client wanted to built their dream house keeping in mind the privacy from the surrounding at the same time associated with the natural environment as much as possible with large openings.

Introduction

We wanted to create a folded house which unfolds to its surrounding creating nice areas within each fold and that is what we have tried to achieve with these concrete folds.

Exterior

The plot is about 25,000 Sq.ft and the limitation of the development is that we cannot construct the house in S-W due to some technical issues and that is why we had to place the house towards N-E side, in that case the sunlight from south and West needs to be taken care of precisely at the same time.

We need to keep house open towards garden side as much as possible and that is what is influenced on the overall language of the house. We have tried to create concrete folds which are holding entrance foyer towards E side and living room towards S-W side by keeping a corner view open towards garden.

One more outside court next to living room is being created towards the garden side between 2 more concrete folds, followed by family room on ground floor and home theatre on first floor within another concrete keeping in mind that these areas are protected from the harsh sunlight with the help of wooden finish aluminium fins.

Next to it is placement of bedroom in a way that these windows in a way gives maximum openness and aeration but also protects from the harsh sunlight. On the other side these concrete folds hold dining and kitchen areas.

List of spaces on Ground floor

Ground floor comprised of entry foyer with a beautiful connection to the outside zen garden followed by a 16 ft high living room creating a statement for the house.

A long corridor is connecting to the puja room, dining room, kitchen, utility and guest bedroom on side and lift, staircase block, family room and master bedroom on the other side.

List of spaces on first floor

On the first floor there are 3 bedrooms, home theatre and junk room on both the side of the passage.

Foyer & Entrance

The grand entry having a huge metal canopy which is giving a nice base to the wooden façade within the concrete fold falls into foyer which is quite open and roomy having a nice outdoor connection giving a pleasant surprise to the visitors.

Living Room

Living room also holds within the concrete fold where we have managed to keep the height about 16 ft with the corner garden view opening having needful and impactful simple system.

The moment we enter living room one can see a nice bold but meditating artwork on the veneer wall having in the marble floor and on the veneer panel.

3 crystal hanging lamps enhancing the beauty to this cozy corner.

Puja Room

Immediately after foyer, we have carved out small but soulful puja room having back wall treated with Rajasthani arch creating a simple but soothing backdrop for the idol.

Dinning & Kitchen area

Double heightened dining area is well associated with the owner’s kitchen and nice outside court in the E direction associated with the outside small garden creating a cheerishable environment all cross the day.

Kitchen is next to dining area followed by a Maharaj kitchen and well-equipped utility area.

Main kitchen is open and modular with all amenities.

Family Room

Family room is well placed opposite to dining and kitchen immediately after staircase and lift block.

It is having a circular sitting for a cozy gathering. This room is having a nice outside deck on both the sides which is well converted for the heat protection from the hot direction.

Staircase Area

A well-connected staircase and lift block are next to each other. Lift is having a glass back where series of beautiful arts is being displayed when you travel to the first-floor metal folded staircase with the backdrop of RCC Wall having glass cut-outs creating a sculptrous impact to the overall area.

Master Bedroom

There are 2 master bedrooms in the house, 1 is parents’ bedroom on the Ground Floor above each other with very minimal and needful furniture by keeping most of the walls empty.

A long customized wooden light is USP of the room, we have tried to avoid the false ceiling by keeping precise electrical points right from the casting of the slab.

The dressing areas and bathroom are very open and airy giving very energetic feel overall.

Kids Room

They have 2 small kids, boy and a girl both have their room are on the First Floor. Here we tried to play with colour suitable to both.

Again, very simple and needful layout but little vibrant which gives energetic environment to the kids.

Home Theatre

Home theatre we have kept on the first floor above family room which is like a multipurpose area. The partition of the room is created in a way that they can completely shut with the wooden panelled door when used for home theatre purpose and glass door can be shut when used as a gathering purpose.

Wooden p coated aluminium fins creating a mesmerising sciography in the evening, helping create drama but reducing the heat.
