Beyond Practice
Beyond Practice: Enthusiastic involvement for development of civic.
Make what change you are able to make now, and let the ‘giving spirit’ spread like a virus, infinitely touching the lives of people you may never meet, across boundaries you may never cross, in ways you may never imagine. That is the power of giving and your ticket to changing the world.
“Do we have a social responsibility that extends beyond our practice? What are the social consequences of piece of architecture that we design?” Dipen Gada often had this thought. He always participated in such issues whenever he got a chance. He considered it to be his responsibility towards the community. End of 2015 gave him, an opportunity to focus his skills in improvising the quality of urban life by re-orienting city design of Vadodara.
After the celebration of Diwali 2015, Vadodara was going to witness the city come alive with aura of the events of Vadfest. Dipen Gada with few of his IIID friends (Rahul Dalvi, Hitesh Modi, Dipak Panchal, Minesh Shah, Manish Shah, Karmavir Ghatge and Priyank Shah) decided to actively involve themselves as design consultants in various development schemes for VMSS and show the world a prettier picture of Vadodara. VMSS supported us with execution of design solution and keenly supervised it. The design team worked with a philosophy which is rooted in the belief of a collaborative and systematic approach. With a very little time remaining, the live projects were delegated among the members of the team as per one’s ability and strength of team. This ensured high quality and timely implementation within available resources.
Properly planned roads, street junctions, streetscape and landscape solutions are implemented on priority basis. Especially the re-proposal for Professor Chandravadan Mehta Marg (besides Kamatibaug), R.C.Dutt road and Shankheshwar Parshwanath Marg for parking (near D-mart), landscape elements, divider and pedestrian zones are re-categorised. Existing structures like Skywalk near railway station, few unattended barren lands and underground tunnels were given an aesthetic value. This division of work among the design team helped us to facilitate a dialogue to find an acceptable and functionally solution.
