Journey of Dipen Gada

Those Three Marks

Journey of Mr. Dipen Gada

You never know where destiny is driving you.

When the time came to select a stream in 10th Std., my heart said commerce, but under influence (of my cousin) it screamed science. Coincidently, I scored well in 10th std. and continued in science stream and my cousin got lesser marks and he went for commerce stream. After 12th Std., I had keen interest in Mechanical Engineering as my uncle in USA was doing well in this field. I worked hard enough to get good marks to get in Mechanical Engineering but failed due to short of 3 marks. Then, there was no alternative and I had to select Civil Engineering. I got admission in Architecture stream as well. There was an option that after one year one can opt for change of division i.e. one can switch from civil to mechanical. So finally to fulfil goal of Mech. Engg., decided to pursue Civil Engg. and not Architecture.  As fate would have it, I was again 1 mark short to opt for Mech. Engg. Hence, the completion of Civil Engineering became mandatory.

One fine day, cousin of mine asked me to supervise work for his house for which he had bought marble. In doing so, I made some changes to the planning and the end result turned out to be quite something! It was different and something sparked in me. One of my friend happened to see the completed house and requested me to do the design for his boutique. I obliged. This was the turning point. The spark in me had started a series of firecrackers. I went on a learning spree. I started educating myself through books, seminars and working self on site quite often.  This is how those three marks led me on to this journey of becoming a designer.

“Design Sutra”, a seminar in 2000 has proved out a turning point for my career. I came across a Swedish firm that operated years after the demise of the principal designer, based on the goodwill, values, reputation, philosophies and the work culture put into practice decades ago.  It marked a change in my design ethos of the design consultancy firm. A deliberate effort to shift towards a more simple, minimal and ‘back to basics’ kind of design sensibility was made. I have been always a good learner and implementing changes without fear to achieve a closer step towards perfection. I have struggled for micro level changes in design ideology from one project to another.  Faith in God has also been great wisdom in all ups and down of my journey.

Gradually with time and every project accomplished, DGA evolved from an exclusive interior design firm to an architectural firm and attained the position as one of the most reputed firms of India. Since its inception in 1993, DGA has made its presence felt through innovative and timeless designs.

“SAHAJ”- Effortlessness is our latest design motto.

Although, we take great efforts to attain the final result, we believe in making it feel effortless. Gradually as we evolve, the need for a soothing, serene & calm ambience is felt. We believe in incorporating that in our design process since the beginning, thus making the design timeless.

Functionality is given utmost importance in our design approach. Once functionality is resolved, aesthetics is addressed and a perfect blend of both is achieved.

We always keep our eyes open for new ideas & designs. Learning and exploring the latest technologies and working with lot of younger minds help us which retain the freshness & innovativeness in our designs.

We firmly believe in teamwork & equal importance is given to everyone’s ideas. Everything we have achieved & accomplished till date is credited to our enthusiastic team & equivalent efforts by the client, coordinator & designers.
